极言用尽心思。《二刻拍案惊奇》卷二：“ 張生 窮思極想方才下得一着，小道人只隨手應去。”《二十年目睹之怪现状》第七九回：“去年又想鬧闊了，然而苦于没題目，窮思極想，才想得一個法子，是給他娘做陰壽。” 刘半农 《瓦釜集·第十一歌》：“我里穷人饿仔要死末，只好穷思极想把裤带来束束紧！”

一千年里也难碰到一次。形容机会极其难得。同“千载难逢”。
