原指佛教徒修行时，排除物欲，保持心地洁净。现泛指丝毫不受坏习惯，坏风气的影响。也用来形容非常清洁、干净。

微：微小；著：显著。从事物露出的苗头，可以推知它的发展趋向或他的实质。

走：跑。市：集市。形容为某种目的而奔忙、活动的人很多。

用斗量，用筲计。形容数量很多。

Measuring with petty calculations

连极细小处也不放过。

Not leaving out anything big or small

形容城墙高大。

High walls with a hundred ramparts

锋：锋芒，指刀剑的刃和尖；当：阻挡、承受。锋芒纯利，没有东西可以承受。形容气势极盛，不可阻挡。

Unstoppable sharpness

犹言高不成低不就。

Neither high nor low

指酒量大小，与身材高矮无关。

Wine separates the intestines

盈：满；累：积。成千上万。形容数量非常多。

thousand and tens of thousands thousands upon thousands

杳：不见踪影；迹：脚印。连一个人的脚印也看不到。形容地方非常荒凉、偏僻，从来没有人去过。

No trace of people

流传千万年也不会磨灭。犹千古不朽。

Unfading through the ages

汇：排泄。象是连水也流不出去。形容拥挤或包围的非常严密。同“水泄不通”。

拔：抽出。拔出刀来助战，多指见义勇为

help others for the sake of justice

对于未来的事，不可期望等待。

形容极微小的功劳。

同“ 越瘦秦肥 ”。 《歧路灯》第四四回：“ 越 人肥瘠由他罷， 秦 人各自一 關中 。”《冷眼观》第一回：“詎料我伯父不但存了一個 越 人肥瘠的思想，而且深恐我父親做州縣官，設有虧空，不無累及；於是想出破壞法子來。”
