《淮南子·道应训》载， 秦始皇 时博士 卢敖 ，游于北海，在 蒙穀山 上，见一人逃匿于碑阴，踞坐龟壳而食蛤蜊。 卢敖 见后，自我介绍周行四极，唯北阴未窥，欲与他交朋友而同游历。这人听后，露齿而笑，说宇宙间大得很呢，你才游了一小块，就说穷观，还差得远呢！“吾與汗漫期于九垓之外，吾不可以久駐！”说着，这人举臂而纵身，跳入云中。后以“踞鼃食蛤”谓超然脱世，遨游四方。 明 杨慎 《词品·黄玉林》：“﹝ 黄玉林 ﹞贈 丁南鄰 云：‘待踞鼃食蛤，相期汗漫，與煙霞會。’用 盧敖 事也，見《淮南子》。”按，鼃，同“ 蛙 ”。当作“龜”。
